Monika Kučerová

Monika is a master’s student of Phonetics at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. She is interested in how pre-literate children learn foreign languages. In her bachelor’s thesis, she investigated the development of English and Czech vowel production in Czech preschoolers learning English as a foreign language. She focused primarily on how parents and the English teacher influence the children’s production of L2 words. (For this work, she received the Minister of Education’s award for students.) She wants to continue her research in foreign language acquisition in preschool children, for her master’s thesis, she plans to focus on their perception of English vowels. She enjoys going on trips and loves nature walks
